Treatment of paralytic complications of scoliosis

Abstract

The principles of the treatment in the paraiytic complications of scoliosis has been discussed. Treatment should be undertaken after the etiology of the paralytic complication is understood. When the paralytic complication is due to bony pressure or a local neurological disease or anomaly surgical intervention as laminectomy and local extirpation is indicated. Paralytic complications due to anoxia or systemic neurological disease should be treated conservatively. In the latter case, however, the prognosis is always poor.
