Chronic Osteomyetitis and its Operative Treatment

Abstract

1002 cases, who had operative treatment tor the chronic osteomyelitis in our clinic between the years of 1954-1972, are studied in various aspects Ages of the patients: 250 cases, ages 6-10 (% 24,9), 248 cases, ages, 11-15 (% 24,7), 200 cases, ages 21-40 (% 20.1), 130 cases, ages 16-20 (% 13,0), 76 cases, ages 41-60 (% 7,6), 72 cases, ages 2-5 (% 7,2) 673 cases (% 67,2) were male and 329 cases (% 32,8) were female. Localisation of the lesio:= Femur 438 (%43,7), tibia 239 (% 23,8), humerus 71 (% 7.1). Lower extremity 837 (%83,5), upper extremity 129 (% 12,9), other bones 36 (%3,6). These localisations are considerabiy different than LOOSER's series of 716 cases. Kind of operations: Curretage 509 (%50,8), sequestrectomy 412 (% 41,1), amputations or resection 24 (% 2.4), trepanation 10 (%1,0), others 47 (% 4,7).
