Arthrodesis of the knee and Charnely's compression method

Abstract

Arthrodesis of the knee was performed on 82 cases at Orthopaedics and Traumatoiogy Clinic of İstanbul Faculty of Medicine between 1961-1970. In 37 of these operations CHARNLEY's Compression was applied and in 32 of them (% 86) arthrodesis was achieved without complication. We believe that CHARNLEY's compression arthrodesis is a betler technic comparing to other surgical technic for the knee arthrodesis.

Abstract

İstanbul Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniğinde 1961-1970 seneleri içinde 82 vakada diz artrodezi yapılmıştır. Diz artrodezinde CHARNLEY'in kompresyon metodunun üstünlüğü kabul edilmekle beraber sosyal ve bazı endikasyon nedenleriyle ancak 37 vakada bu teknik uygulanabilmiştir. CHARNLEY kompresyon metodu ile yapılan 37 diz artrodezi vakasından 32 vakada (% 86) komplikasyonsuz çok iyi netice alınmıştır ve bu neticelere dayanarak diz artrodezinde, diğer artrodez tekniklerine kıyasla CHARNLEY'in kompresyon metodunun üstünlükleri belirtilmiştir.
