Abstract

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs by the compression of the nervous medianus in the wrist canal (carpal tunnel) generally due to the trauma. Clinically the most striking feature of this syndrome is pain. This pain regarded as the most important sign of the syndrome is localized or disseminated upward to the shoulder and nape. The sensitive disturbances of the ner;vous medianus are seen in its localization. The treatment is orthopaedic in the first plan, however, methods of physical therapy and also some local novocaine or hydrocortison injections may successfully be used. Except this carpal tunnel syndrome near the lodge of Guyon anothcr syndrome may be described due to the compression of the nervous ulnaris. In this syndrome, occuring spontanicusly or after trauma, one feels severe pain in the area of the nervous ulnaris spreading toward the upper parts of the extremities. This syndrome may easily be treated by cutting the ligament of the lodge of Guyon. We are performing the same tecnique in our clinic and the results are glorious.
