Conservative treatment of trigger finger

Abstract

This a review of 29 Trigger Finger in 25 cases treated by steroid injection and immobilisation from January 1985 to June 1988, at the department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Gulhane Military Academy, Haydarpasa Military Hospital and from October 1987 to June 1988 at the Mustafakemalpasa State Hospital. Methylprednisolone-Lidocaine combination injected patients have been immobilised about three weeks. 18 digits (%62) had a succesful outcome. In 11 digits results were unsatisfactory. Satisfactory result rate in patients with a duration of symptoms less than three months, was 83 %. In this article, literature is reviewed and conservative treatment is advised prior to surgical intervention.

Abstract

Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisi Haydarpaşa Eğitim Hastanesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniğinde Ocak 1985-Haziran 1988 ve Bursa, Mustafakemalpaşa Devlet Hastanesinde Ekim 1987-Haziran 1988 tarihleri arasında 25 olguda 29 parmağa steroid enjeksiyonu sonrası atel ile tesbit uygulanmıştır. Metilprednisolon-Lidocaine kombinasyonu uygulanan hastalara 3 hafta kadar süren tesbit yapılmıstır. Tedavi edilen parmaklardan 18’inde (%62) iyi sonuç. 11 'inde (%38) kötü sonuç elde edilmiştir. Enflamasyonun başlamasından itibaren 3 ay içinde tedaviye alınan hastalarda başarı oranı % 83'tür. Bu çalışmamızda ilgili literatür gözden geçirilerek konu tartışılmış, konservativ tedavinin önemi ortaya konmuştur.
