Mechanical performance of the external fixation system-A computerized analysis of a mathematical model

Abstract

Mechanical performance of an extemal fixator depends on many variables. Of these, diameters and lengths of the pins and rods which are used in the fixation system are important. A computerized analysis ofa mathematical model which was developed for a unilateral uniplanar external fixator was made for determining the effects of these variables on the mechanical performance of the system. It has been concluded that more rigid fixation could be obtained by using larger diameter and shorter pins and rods.

Eksternal fiksatörlerin mekanik verimini etkileyen birçok faktör vardır. Sistemde kuIlanılan çivi ve çubukların bo ve çaplarının mekanik verime etkilerini göstermek amacıyla, unilateral-uniplanar eksternal fiksatör için geliştirilmiş bir matematiksel modelin bilgisayarlı analizi yapılmıştır. Daha kalın ve kısa çubuklar kullanılarak daha rijid bir tesbit yapılabileceğı sonucuna varılmıştır.
