The surgical treatment of the lesion of lumbar intervertebral discs

Abstract

The Iesion of lntervertebral discs which is one of theimportant causes of back paim is usually treated. conservatively. Long-term pain, the presence of neurological deficits and the relapses which repeat very often are the most important causes of surgical treatment.
In the last fourteen years. 174 patients with the lesion of lumbar intervertebral disc were operated by us. The patients range from 16 to 67 years. 98 of the patients were male and 76 were female. 86 of the patients had left-side, 72 right-side and 16 bilateral lesions. Among these, the lesions of 8 patients were two-layered. 49 patients were operated because ofpain-related scaliosis and severe pain lasting more than 8 weeks. 83 patients were operated because of neurological loses and 42 because of relapses which occurred very often. The patients were mobilize in lto 7 days.

Abstract

Bel ağrısının önemli nedenlerinden biri olan intervertebral disk hemisi genellikle konservatif tedavi edilir. Uzun süre devam eden ağrı, nörolojik bulguların mevcudiyeti çok sık tekrarlayan nüksler cerrahi tedavinin en önemli nedenleridir . Son ondört yılda 174 hasta intervertebral disk hemisi neden ile tarafımızdan ameliyat edilmiştir En genç hasta 16, en yaşlı hasta 67 yaşındadır. 98 hasta erkek, 76 hasta kadındır. 86 hasta sol, 72 hasta sağ ve 16 hasta iki taraflıdır. Bu serinin içerisindeki 8 hastada lezyon iki düzeylidir. 4 9 hasta, 8 haftadan daha uzun süren aşırı ağrı ve antaljik skolyoz. 83 hasta nörolojik kayıplar ve 42 hasta çok sık tekrarlayan nüksler nedeniyle ameliyat edilmiştir. Hastalar 1 ila 7 gün içerisinde ayağa kaldırılmıştır.
