All authors have agreed with each other by now that the treatment of slipped capital femoral epiphysis is surgical. In the acute period and acute-on-chronic slippings reduction and pinning or in-situ pinning or epiphyseodesis are the treatment of choice. In the chronic period or in cases of late period wher the epiphyseal plate is closed and coxa vara. external rotation and hyperextension contractures are developed. Southwick osteotomy finds its indication as a trochanteric osteotomy which can remove all these pathologies In this study presented the results of the operation which was performed on 13 hips of 12 chronic-period patients in our clinic.
Femur başı epifiz kaymasının tedavisinin cerrahi olduğu artık tüm yazarlarca kabul edilmektedir. Akut dönemde ve kronik dönemdeki akut kaymalarda reduksiyon ve çivileme veya yerinde çivileme epifizyodez seçkin yöntemler olurken kronik döneme veya büyüme kıkırdağının kapandığı koksa vara, eksternal rotasyon ve hiper-ekstansiyon kontraktürlerinin geliştiği ileri döneme erişmiş olgularda bir trokanterik osteotomi olan Southwick osteotomisi bu patolojileri ortadan kaldırmaya yönelik olarak endikasyon bulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada kliniğimizde kronik dönemdeki 12 hastanın 13 kalçasına uygulanan ameliyatın sonuçları incelenmiş söz konusu deformiteler üzerinde olumlu etkisinin olduğu görülmüştür.
