The relation between septic arthritis and joint aspiration in the presence of bacteremia

Year 1991, Volume: 25 Issue: 2, 107 - 109, 11.09.2006

Abstract

This study was undertaken on 50 rabbits to determine the relation between bacteremia, septic arthritis and the efficiency of prophylactic antibiotic therapy following a traumatic aspiration in the presence of bacteremia. The risk of joint sepsis. following traumatic joint aspiration was investigated in bacteriemic rabbits it was found that in bacteremic animals there was an increased risk of development of joint sepsis after a traumatic aspiration it is recommended that, in clinical practise even under prophylactic antibiotic therapy joint aspira tions should be with minimal blood contamination and under atraumatic conditions .

Bakteriemide eklem ponksiyonu-septik artrit ilişkisi

Year 1991, Volume: 25 Issue: 2, 107 - 109, 11.09.2006

Abstract

Bakteriyemi ile septik artrit arasındaki ilişkiyi, bakteriyemi varlığında yapılan travmatik eklem ponksiyonunun ve koruyucu antibiyotik uygulamasının önemini göstermek amacıyla. 50 adet tavşan üzerinde çalışıldı. Tavşanlarda bakteriemi oluşturularak septik artrit gelişme olasılığı ve travmatik olarak yapılan eklem ponksiyonunun septik artrit oluşturma riski araştırıldı.
Bakteriemide, travmatik ponksiyon yapılan eklemlerde istatistiki yönden önemli bir oranda septik artrit geliştiği saptandı. Klinik uygulamalarda, bakteriemi durumunda antibiotik uygulaması olsa bile eklemlere yapılacak ponksiyonların çok dikkatli atravmatik koşullarda yapılması gerektiği kanısına varıldı.
