Biomechanic behaviors of geometric properties of femoral components in total hip prostheses (experimental study of human cadaver femurs)

Year 1991, Volume: 25 Issue: 2, 110 - 116, 11.09.2006

Abstract

In this experimental study, femoral components of total hip prostheses had been taken in two groups, one is collared and the other one is collarless, which are designed at three different stem length (100-120-140 cm). Each femoral component was inserted to 16 human cadaver femur using bone cement. Dunng the mıdstance phase, according to prepared system, compression experiments are performed with Instron-1186 apparatus. In the acute compressıon model, partiel fractures were observed ın proximal medial femoral cortex of femurs which the collared prostheses were applied. On the other hand majority of dıstal intramedullary mıgration is observed in the collarless group. Direct proportional increase in the Kg-force values which is necessary for acute ınstability were observed, whenever the stem length increased. At the end, it is decided that the collarless and 14 cm stem length femoral components have more advantages than the other expenmental groups.

Total kalça protezlerinde femoral komponent geometrik özelliklerinin davranışları (insan kadavra femurları üzerinde deneysel çalışma)

Year 1991, Volume: 25 Issue: 2, 110 - 116, 11.09.2006
