This study was performed on 40 distal interphalangeal joints of 5 fresh human cadavers to investigate the joint anatomy and stability. It was found that, collateral ligaments have much more importance than volar plate and accessory collateral ligaments, on the Iateral stability and hyperextension strains of the joints.
