The place of magnetic resonance imaging in idiopathic scoliosis

Year 1994, Volume: 28 Issue: 4, 203 - 206, 11.09.2006

Abstract

The first sign of intramedullary pathofogies can be a scofiotic deformity. This usually devefops without abnormal neurofogic findings and can appear as idiopathic scoliosis. When unrecognized and surgical treatment of the scoliosis is required, the fesion may Iead to a neurologic demage. We investigated the spinal cords of 124 Cases who apparently had an idiopathic scoliosis without abnormaf neurologic findings, with MRI and found intramedullary pathologies in 8,06% (10 cases). of this cases, 3 had scofiosis with Ieft thoracic curve, 3 had juvenile scoliosis, and 4 had adolescent scofiosis with right thoracic curve. These findings fed us to the conclusion that MRI of the spinal cord is necessary in patients with idiopathic scoliosis who have juvenile curves, atypical curves, rapidly progressive curves and who require surgical treatment.

İdiopatik skolyozda manyetik rezonans görüntülemenin yeri

Year 1994, Volume: 28 Issue: 4, 203 - 206, 11.09.2006

Abstract

İntrameduller patolojilerin ilk belirtisi skolyotik deformite olabilmektedir.
