Abstract
In this article, we have evaluated 69 fractures of 67 patients, who had been treated for in the FYrat University Medical Faculty, Orthopaedics and Traumatology Clinic. 44 (65.7%) of our patients were male and 23 (34.3%) of them were female. The average of patients' age was 6.9 (between 1-14). The fracture was on the right side in 35 patients (52.2%), on the left side in 30 (44.8%) patients, diaphyseal fracture of femur and bilateral in 2 patients (3%). The average follow-up period was 23 months (between 5 and 51 months). Bryant traction was used for the patient group between 1-2 years. For the patients older than 2 years, Russell traction, 90¡ -90¡ skeletal traction and Bohler-Braun splint were used. A 1 1/2 hip spica cast was applied in the cases after an average traction period of 3 weeks. In 9 (13.4%) traction procedure was not applied but following the immediately closed reduction a 11/2 hip spica cast was made. The early complications were pintrack infection in 5 (8.8%) patients, 30 degrees of angulation in 7 (10.4%) patients, and limb shortening in 10 (15%) patients. After a long term follow-up our results were satisfactory. Nonunion, rotational deformity or joint stiffness was observed in none of our patients.

Femur diafiz kırığı nedeniyle Haziran 1988-Eylül 1993 yılları arasında Fırat Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Araştırma ve Uygulama Hastanesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniğinde tedavi edilen ve çağrımıza uyarak ge-len 67 hastanın 69 femur kırığı değerlendirildi. Hastalarımızın 44'ü (%65.7) erkek, 23'ü (%34.3) kız idi: En kü-çük yaş 1, en büyük yaş 14 olup ortalama yaş 6.9 idi. 35 (%52.2) hastada kırık sağ tarafta, 30 (%44.8) hasta-da sol tarafta, 2 (%3) hastada ise bilateral kırık mevcut idi. en kısa takip 5 ay, en uzun 51 ay, ortalama takip süresi 23 aydı. Konservatif tedavi yöntemi olarak 0-2 yaş grubunda Bryant traksiyonu, 2-14 yaş grubunda ise Flussel traksiyon, 90-90 iskelet traksiyonu ve Böhler-Braun atelinde iskelet traksiyonu uygulandı. Ortalama 3 haftalık traksiyondan sonra pelvipedal alçı yapıldı. Sadece 9 (% 13.4) hastaya kırıktan hemen sonra kapalı repozisyon ve pelvi-pedal alçı uygulandı. Erken dönemde komplikasyon olarak hastalarımızın 5'inde (%8.8) çivi yolu enfeksiyonu, 7'sinde (%10.4) 30 dereceye yakın acılanma, 10'unda (%15) 1-2.5 cm arasında değişen kı-salık görüldü. Uzun dönem takiplerinde bu deformitelerin tatminkar bir hal aldığı görüldü. Hastalarımızın hiçbirinde kaynamama, rotasyon deformitesi ve eklem sertliği gelişmedi.
