Normative values of spinal mobility for Saudi Arabian healthy adult females

Year 1996, Volume: 30 Issue: 4, 423 - 424, 11.09.2006

Abstract

This study was an attempt towards establishing normative values for Saudi Arabian healthy adult females aged 20 to 25 years. Measurements of forward flexion, right lateral flexion and hyperextension of thoracolumbar region were obtained from a sample of 120 adult females. Cybek EDI 320 inclinometer was the instrument used. From this results, the mean normative values obtained for forward flexion, right lateral flexion and hyperextension were 60±17 degrees; 26±7 degrees and 30±15 degrees respectively. Spinal mobility correlated poorly with age (r=0.09-0.11), height (r=0.13-0.09) and weight (r=0.05-0.02). The measurements of spinal mobility could be used as a baseline to determining any abnormal limitation in spinal mobility in the adult Saudi Arabian female. This could provide a means of prevention and enhanced effective treatment program.

Suudi Arabistan'lı sağlıklı kadınlarda spinal mobilite-standart değerler

Year 1996, Volume: 30 Issue: 4, 423 - 424, 11.09.2006
