The results of single distal screw for the treatment of femoral shaft fractures with interlocking intramedullary nailing

Abstract

The results of a single distal locking screw on 18 femoral fractures, treated with interlocking intramedullary mailing were evaluated. Average follow-up time was one year (range 4 months to 2 years). The average time to healing was 4.5 months (range 3 to 7.5 months). There was no nonunion or implant failure. There were 2 symptomatic screw migrations. We concluded that during the treatment of the femoral fractures with interlocking intramedullary nailing, two distal locking screws are not always necessary, in most of cases only one distal screw may be sufficient.

Abstract

Kilitli intramedüller çivi kullanılarak tedavi edilen 18 femur kırığında tek distal kilitleme vidası kullanımının sonuçları değerlendirildi. Olguların ortalama izleme süresi bir yıl idi (4 ay ile 2 yıl arasında); ortala-ma iyileşme süresi 4.5 ay idi (3 ay ile 7.5 ay arasında). Kaynama yokluğu veya implant kırılması görülmedi. Semptomatik disral vida migrasyonu 2 olguda görüldü. Kilitli intramedüller çivi ile tedavi edilen hastalarda her zaman iki distal vidanın gerekli olmadığı, tek vida kullanılmasının da çoğu kez yeterli olabileceği sonucuna varıldı.
