Abstract

We evaluated pre and postoperative pulmonary functions of 48 patients who underwent posterior fusion for the adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. The mean age at the time of surgery was 13±1.5 years. Average follow-up time was 2.7 years. The predicted pulmonary volumes of the patients were used to eliminate any effect of the difference in age. In this study we didn't found any relation between the pre and postoperative frontal and sagittal plane Cobb angles and pulmonary volumes. Only for the residual volume there was a significant increase but the increase for the vital capacity and forced vital capacity were not significant. There was also no significant effect of the chosen method of correction as translation or derotation.

Abstract

Adolesan idiyopatik skolyoz nedeniyle posterior füzyon uygulanmış 48 hastanın pulmoner fonksiyonları preoperatif ve postoperatif olarak değerlerlendirildi. Cerrahi sırasında ortalama yaş 13±1.5 idi. Ortalama izleme süremiz 2.7 yıl idi. Hastaların öngörülen akciğer volüm yüzdeleri göğüs kafesindeki büyümenin pulmoner volümlerdeki etkilerim anadan kaldırmak için kullanıldı. Çalışmanın sonunda pulmoner volümlerle pre ve postoperatif frontal ve sagittal plan Cobb açılan arasında herhangi bir ilişki saptanamadı. Sadece rezidüel hacimde belirgin bir artış saptanırken vital kapasite ve zorlu vital kapasitede saptanan artış anlamlı değildi. Cerrahi sırasında düzeltme için kullanılan yöntemin derotasyon veya translasyon olmasının da sonuç üzerinde bir etkisi saptanamadı.
