Synovial osteochondromatosis of the knee (A report of two cases)

Year 1997, Volume: 31 Issue: 3, 265 - 268, 11.09.2006

Abstract

Synovial osteochondromatosis is an idiopathic pathology with a rare incidence affecting synovial joints. In this disease assumed to be occurring with synovial metaplasia one joint involvement is seen typically. Knee, hip and elbow are the most frequently affected joints. Bursae and tendon sheaths may also involved in spite of their are not joints. In this study, two cases with synovial osteochondromatosis in the popliteal bursae and intraarticular surface of the knee joint which were subjected to partial synovectomy and popliteal cyst excision are presented. We haven't observed recurrence and malignant degeneration in the cases whom we followed for 12 and 20 months. However, it is emphasized that we should be careful in respected to recurrence and malignant degeneration and a prolonged follow-up should be done in the cases with synovial chondromatosis and osteochondromatosis under the light of existing literature information.

Diz ekleminde sinovyal osteokondromatozis (İki olgu sunumu)

Year 1997, Volume: 31 Issue: 3, 265 - 268, 11.09.2006
