MANUSCRIPT

Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi (Journal of Asia and Pacific Studies) publishes high-quality and original research that is consistent with the journal’s aims and scope. Research articles must be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, including references and notes. Book reviews must not exceed 1,500 words, while chronicles must not exceed 2,000 words. The title page must include the title, an abstract of 100–150 words in both Turkish and English, and keywords in both languages. Authors may include materials such as tables, evidence, and illustrations in their manuscripts. These materials may be provided as online supplementary materials. Appendices are excluded from the word limit.

References to the relevant literature should, wherever possible, include page ranges. Rather than summarising cited works one after another, authors should establish connections between them, group them according to their themes, and clearly explain how the conclusions reached relate to the research question addressed in the manuscript.

Authors should also avoid overcitation. References should not be provided for widely known concepts or generally accepted facts that cannot be directly attributed to a particular author or group of authors. Similarly, authors should avoid citing publications that have appeared in outlets that do not adhere to academic standards of rigour.

The Editorial Board of Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi evaluates all submitted manuscripts. Submissions are initially subject to two basic screening criteria:

• Compliance with the minimum and maximum word limits.
• Compliance with the journal’s citation and reference style requirements.

Manuscripts that fail to comply with the journal’s formatting requirements are rejected outright. The Editorial Board evaluates manuscripts that pass the initial screening in terms of their alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, originality, and contribution to the existing literature. A subject editor is assigned to manuscripts deemed suitable for peer review under these criteria. The subject editor may assess the manuscript and initiate the peer-review process. The Editorial Board is under no obligation to respond to authors, provide explanations, or state reasons for manuscripts rejected at the initial screening stage.

EDITORIAL POLICIES

Peer-Review Policy

The journal operates a double-blind peer-review process for all submissions. At the initial stage, manuscripts are evaluated by the editors, and those that fall within the journal’s aims and scope are sent for peer review. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two reviewers under the double-blind peer-review system. If one reviewer recommends acceptance and the other recommends rejection, the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer. As a rule, reviewers are expected to complete their assessments and provide feedback within two months (eight weeks). The Editorial Board makes the final publication decision, taking the reviewers’ reports and recommendations into consideration.

Author Responsibilities

All individuals who have contributed to the work are considered authors. The order of authorship must reflect each author’s scientific contribution, irrespective of their status. Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi does not publish texts identified as having been generated by large language models, generative artificial intelligence, or other digital tools.

Acknowledgements

Individuals who have contributed to the manuscript but do not qualify for authorship should be acknowledged in a separate Acknowledgements section.

Funding

For submissions to Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi, authors must consistently disclose any financial support received under a separate heading. The acknowledgement statement must identify the source of funding and provide the relevant grant numbers.

Contribution Statement

During the manuscript submission process, the individual contribution of each author must be clearly specified. Changes to authors’ contribution statements are not permitted after the submission has been completed.

Disclosure of Potential Conflicts of Interest

Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi encourages authors to disclose any competing or overlapping interests relating to the peer-review process, research funding, and other relevant matters. Reviewers are advised to consult the editor if they identify any potential conflicts of interest arising from competition, collaboration, or other relationships with the manuscript’s authors.

Research Data

Research underpinning manuscripts submitted to Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi must be transparent and reliable. Authors should share their research data in an appropriate repository. Where direct sharing is not possible, they should provide a link to the data and ensure that the data used in their research are appropriately cited.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

The manuscript text and file metadata must not contain any information that could reveal the identity of the author(s). When citing their previous publications, authors must not identify those publications as their own.

Format

The preferred formats for manuscript submissions are .doc, .docx, and .rtf. Before submission, manuscripts must be formatted with 1.5 line spacing, margins of 3 cm on the left and right, and margins of 5 cm at the top and bottom. The text must use a standard font in 10- or 12-point size.

Images, Figures, and Visual Materials

Figures submitted in colour will appear in colour in the online publication but will be reproduced in black and white in the printed version.

Supplementary Materials

Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi cannot host supplementary materials online alongside the full text, including datasets, podcasts, videos, and similar materials.

Quotations, Footnotes, and References

Asya ve Pasifik Araştırmaları Dergisi follows the 7th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) for quotations, citations, and references.

The journal follows the Continental European convention for decimal and thousands separators and for date and time formats.

Footnotes should be used for explanatory purposes, not for citations.

Turkish and English Language Editing Services

Authors who require assistance with editing, translation, or figures in Turkish or English to ensure compliance with the journal’s requirements may obtain proofreading and editing services from third-party providers before submitting their manuscripts.
