Abstract

In this review, a reading will be made on the axis of the idea of the absolute, which is claimed as the most appropriate theme for the argumentative progress of After Finitude. In this context, it will be aimed to penetrate the structure of After Finitude through three main questions: 1) According to the author, why does contemporary philosophy need a speculative initiative that puts the absolute on its agenda again? In other words, what is the crisis that Meillassoux sees in today's dominant philosophy? 2) What can be said about the basic concepts and problematics of the approach offered as a solution to this crisis? In other words, how is the philosophical proposal that gives its name to the subtitle of the book presented by the author, specifially, what is the possible basis for a non-metaphysical speculative enterprise? 3) What can be said about the possible theoretical extensions of this proposal, especially the thesis of the contingency of natural laws, in what context is it intended to be transformed from an epistemological skepticism into an ontological basis, and to what extent are these outcomes compatible with the author's aims mentioned at the beginning?
