Stevens-Johnson Syndrome with Esophageal Involvement

Abstract

Steven Johnson syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) are rare but life-threatening T-cell mediated diseases characterized by widespread necrosis and separation of the epidermis, with mucocutaneous involvement. The disease usually begins with prodromal symptoms such as fever, malaise, headache, myalgia, arthralgia, and upper respiratory tract infection. The skin initially presents with a red and purple rash (maculopapular rash), which eventually begins to peel. In this article, a case of SJS with skin involvement and gastrointestinal system involvement following drug use due to lower respiratory tract infection is presented.

Özofagus Tutulumu ile Giden Stevens-Johnson Sendromu

Abstract

Steven Johnson sendromu (SJS) ve Toksik Epidermal nekroliz (TEN) yaygın nekroz ve epidermisin ayrılması ile karakterize nadir görülen ancak hayatı tehdit eden mukokutanöz tutulumun olduğu T hücre aracılı hastalıktır. Hastalık genellikle ateş, halsizlik, baş ağrısı, myalji, artralji ve üst solunum yolu enfeksiyonu gibi semptomlarla başlar. Ciltte öncelikli olarak kırmızı ve mor renkli döküntü şeklinde (makülopapüler döküntü) olup, cilt en sonunda soyulmaya başlar. Bu yazıda alt solunum yolu enfeksiyonu nedeniyle ilaç kullanımını takiben SJS gelişen cilt tutulumu yanısıra gastrointestinal sistem tutulumu da olan olgu sunulmuştur.
