Family-Religion Relation and Family Roles

Abstract

The family, which is one of the most basic social institutions that link the individuals and the community and keeps the social life alive, has been in close relationship with religion throughout history and is regarded as the center of religious life because it is a natural religious group. Both institutions are in need of each other for protection preservation of religious values and family. The fact that the family is the center of religious life and that parents should be role models for children makes it easier to raise healthy individuals for the society and to convey religious and moral values. Therefore, as it is for all religions, the family institution is of vital importance for Islam. In this sense, in order to protect the family in Islam and to raise healthy individuals in the family, internal roles and relations have been tried to be determined within the framework of verses and hadiths. In our study, family roles and relations and the frame which Islam has drown for family roles and relations have been examined and the data obtained from some researches on the effect on religion on families have been evaluated
