READING ARTWORK WITH 3D IN PAINTING

Abstract

Artwork analysis has been practiced by experts in the field for centuries with traditional methods. The innovative approach brought by the technology that has developed with the industrial revolution has changed the methods used in the artifact analysis process, and has allowed the experts to benefit from technological tools and equipment while analyzing the artifacts. The aim of this study is to determine how accurately the artists can transfer what they see to the canvas when they create their works and the conditions they live in, by means of 3D software, and to better read the artworks through current 3D modeling software. The sub-objectives of this study are to get to know the works of famous artists more closely by the society, to strengthen the bond between the audience and the work, and to make the works of art more understandable because they can reach all segments of the society. In line with these purposes, Osman Hamdi Bey's "The Tortoise Trainer" was reconstructed using 3D modeling software and a visual analysis of the obtained data was made. The study was designed according to the qualitative research model. In addition, literature review technique is another technique used. The theory of the research was made according to the historical pattern, and the 3D modeling method was used in the application phase. In the study, 3D modeling art criticism of the artist and his work selected as a sample for the research, data analysis and application obtained by solving the front structure elements are included. It is thought that the analysis of many works of art in terms of the original method and technique of the study will also be a source for future studies in order to bring different perspectives to the works. By taking this study as a reference, the technological developments emerging today can be used effectively in painting art applications.
