Watching the Audience; a Study on the Relationship Between the Work of Art, the Artist and the Audience
Abstract
The position of the audience is explained by distance in modernist art; there is an envisioned distance between the work of art and its audience. The work of art is located in a place that is inaccessible and impercepible in modernist sense of art. So, the audience has nearly no place in the onthology of such a work of art. However, the characterization of the relationship among the artist, the work of art and the audience has been changed after 1960s under the influence of dada movement. The work of art has no longer been found at the distance that modernity attribute to; the audience is allowed to ‘reach’. The aim of this study is to search the influence of the changing relationship between the artist, the work of art and the audience on the dynamics of art in present.
