Abstract
ÖZET
Azerbaycan'ın başkenti olan Bakü, eski bir liman ve yerleşim yeridir.
Günümüzde metropol bir kent olan şehir, XiX. yüzyıla kadar, etrafı kale ile çevrili
küçük bir yerleşim yerinden ibaretti. Bugün "İçerişehir" denilen bu Eski Bakü
yerleşmesinde, mahalle aralarına serpiştirilmiş halde çok sayıda tarihi mescit
bulunmaktadır. Bunlardan Muhammed (Sınıg Kala) ve Aş,ür (I,ezgi) mescitleri,
çeşitli yönleriyle yöredeki pek çok mescit yapısına öncü olmuş örneklerdir. Aynı
zamanda Azerbaycan'ın en eski· mescitleri olan bu yapılar; çeşitli onarımlar
geçinnelerine rağmen, özgünlüklerini büyük ölçüde koruyarak günümüze
gelebilmişlerdir. 2003 yılında Azerbaycan'da yaptığımız Türk sanatı araştırmaları
kapsamında incelenen söz konusu mescitler bu yazıda etraflıca ele alınmaktadır.

ABSTRACT
Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is an old pan town. Althougr it İs a metropol
city in the present, it was only a smail settlement sıırrounded by castle walls until
XIXth century. In this Old Baku sertlemenL now caJled "Tcerisehir". there are a
number of historical rnasjids spred in the districts. Muhammed (Sinig Kala) and
Aştır (Lezgi) masjids are examples that pioneered the structure of these type of
buildings in many ways. Although they have been renovated many times, these
buildings, which are the oldest masjids of Azerbaijan. survived with their
originality intact. In this artİcle, we analyse these masjids, which we examined in
the scopc of Turkish art rescarehes in Azerbaijan in 2003.
