Abstract
Öz
Ülkemiz müzelerinde, çeşitli yollarla intikal
etmiş durumda çok sayıda eser bulunmaktadır. Bu müzeler içerisinde Tokat Müzesi
zengin sikke koleksiyonu ile dikkat çekmektedir. Tokat Müzesi’ne kazandırılan
sikkelerin büyük çoğunluğu bölgede bulunan antik kentlere aittir.
Bu çalışma kapsamında, Tokat Müzesi’ndeki 56 adet Roma Dönemi Pontos
Bölgesi şehir sikkesi incelenmiştir. Pontos eyaletindeki şehirlerden
Neokaesareia en fazla sikkeyle temsil edilirken, Neokaesareia’yı Sebastopolis,
Amaseia, Zela, Komana, Trapezus ve Pontos Birliği adına basılan sikkeler
izlemektedir. Bu sikkeler imparator Traianus (MS 98-117) döneminden başlayarak
imparator Gallienus (MS 253-268) dönemine kadar ki süreçte basılmışlardır.
Sikkelerin tamamı bronzdan basılmıştır. Tokat Müzesi’ndeki şehir sikkeleri
incelendiğinde bölgenin siyasi, kültürel ve ekonomik yapısı ortaya çıkmakta;
daha önceki dönemlerde olduğu gibi Roma Döneminde de Pontos Bölgesinin Anadolu
tarihinde önemli bir yer tuttuğu anlaşılmaktadır.
