Abstract

Spatial modelling of climatological variables is one of the most crucial parts of environmental studies. Prediction of natural events such as hydrological phenomenon, drought, flood, ground-surface water amount, pollution of water sources, and issues related to air pollution requires an efficient model of precipitation. Precipitation is one of the most indispensable climatological variables. In this study, spatial pattern of Aegean Region was shown using precipitation data from 36 meteorological stations obtained between 1975 and 2010. Modelling of annual mean precipitation pattern was performed using either Ordinary Kriging as a spatial interpolation technique or Inverse Distance Weighted technique. Precision of prediction maps were tested with cross-validation. In comparison with Inverse Distance Weighted technique, Ordinary Kriging technique has generated more precisely prediction maps. In this study, it might be concluded that Ordinary Kriging has better reflected the spatial pattern of precipitation

Ege Bölgesi’nde yağışın mekânsal dağılımı
