PAIN IN TURNSTILE APPLICATIONS

Abstract

Pain, in Tourniquet application 647 caused by tourniqet in 87 patients undergoing extremity surgery was evaluated according io type of anesthesia, effect of type and duration of tourniaet, the level of education of the patients on frequency and severity of pain. up In (n the first group (n = 41) general anesthesia, in the second gro- = 46) regional anesthesia was performed. The beginning of sensation of tourniquet pain and its severity ac- cording to VAS was determined postoperatively in Group I, peropera- tively and postoperatively in Group ITI. In both groups prolongation of tourniquet time increased the fre- quency of pain, however this increase didn’t have an statistical signi- ficance. No correlation was observed between the pain experienced and type of anesthesia, type and duration of tourniget, level of educa- tion of patients.
