ESTABLISHMENT OF ADENOSINE DEAMINASE ACTIVITY IN SERA FROM PATIENTS WITH REACTIVE ARTHRITIS

Abstract

n this study, adenosine deaminase activity was determined in sera from 24 patients with reactive arthritis. The patients were classified according to the sedimentation rafes and number of joints affected. ADA activities was found lower in the patient groups than control group. We found that the lowest values of ADA were in the patients having two joints affected (p< 0.005) and results were also meaningful in the patients having one joint affected (p< 0.01). Decreases in ADA activities however were not meaningful in the patients having three joints affected (p> 0.05) ADA activities was not meaningful in the patients with sedimantation rates between 30 and 60 mm/hr. However, we obtained meaningful results in the groups with sedimantation rates of 0-30 and >60 (p< 0:025 and p< 0.05 respectively). We found no meaningful differences between ADA activity, and sedimantation rates and number of joints affected. We suggest that decreased ADA activities might be an indicator of the immune system depression in reactive arthritis.

REAKTİF ARTRİTLİ HASTALARIN SERUMLARINDA ADENOZİN DEAMİNAZ AKTİVİTESİ TAYİNİ

Abstract

Otuzddrt reaktif artritli hastanın serumlarında ADA aktivitesi tayin edildi. 34 hasta tutulan eklem sayısına göre sınıflandırılmış ayrıca bu hastaların 27 tanesi sedimentasyon hızlarına göre gruplandırılmıştır. Bütün gruplarda ADA aktivitesi kontrole göre düşük bulunmustur. En düşük değer iki eklem tutulumu olan hastalarda belirlenmiştir (p< 0.005). Tek eklem tutulumu olan grupta ise sonuçlar yine anlamh bulunmustur (p< 0.01). Ug eklem tutulumu olan hastalarda ise ADA aktivitesindeki azalma anlamsiz bulunmustur (p>>0.05). Sedimantasyon degeri 30 - 60 mm/saat olan hasta grubunda ADA aktivitesindeki düşüş kontrole gére anlamsiz bulunmasına karsiik (p> 0.05), sedimantasyon hızı 0-30 ve 80’ Uzerinde olan gruplarda kontrole gére anlamh sonuglar elde edilmistir (sırasıyla (p< 0.25 ve p< 005). ADA aktivitesindeki azalma ile eklem tutulumu sayisi ve sedimantasyon hızı arasinda bir farklılık gozlenememistir. ADA aktivietesindeki bu düşüşün rezktif artritte immiin sistem baskılanmasının bir gostergesi olarak degerlendirilebilecegi düşünülmektedir
