Cytogenetic Studies From Bone Marrow In Malignant Diseases

Abstract

A steadily increasing number of specific chromosome abnormalities are found to be associated with particular malignancies or their subgroups. Such consistent abnormalities can sither b eof diagnostic value or be associated with a bad prognosis or can even predict tailure to respond to current treatment regimens, Knowledge of these chromosome abnormalities s also fundamental to an understanding of the genetic changes in malignancy.In this study cytogenetic analysis was performed from bone marrow cells of 12 cases of acute or chronic leukemia, two cases of neuroblastoma, and a case of oat-cell lung cancer. Five cases with a suspicion of yelodysplastic syndrome were also included in the study. Cytogenetic results of these 25 cases are discussed with regard to clinical significance and technical approaches.

Malign Hastalılıklarda Kemik İliğinde Sitogenetik Çalışmalar

Abstract

SONUÇ Bugün artık lösemilerin tanısı, tedavisinin düzenlenmesi, tedaviye yanıtın değerlendirilmesinde, klinik, morfolojik, immünolojik ve hematolojik kıstaslar kadar, kromozom analizlerinin de ağırlıklı rolü vardır. Klinik ve laboratuar verilerinin yardımcı olamadığı kimi olgularda, lösemik karyotiplendirme tek tanı yöntemi olabilmektedir (Prelösemik fazda Philadelphia kromozomunun görülebilmesi gibi) (5.15). Bu nedenlerle, tanı konulamayan fakat lösemiden şüphe edilen olgularda, lösemilere ilk tanı konulduğu zaman, tedavi planlanmadan önce, remisyonda remisyonun değerlendriilmesi için, relaps fazında, klinik relaps belirtileri ortaya çıkmadan, kemik iliği transplantasyonundan sonra, transplantasyonun başarısının değerlendirilmesi için ve moleküler çalışmalar ve kanser etyolojisine ışık tutmak için LÖSEMİK KARYOTİPLENDİRME yapılmalıdır. ÖZET Son yıllarda lösemik hücrelerin kromozomal özelliklerinin detaylı olarak incelenebilmesine olanak sağlayan gelişmiş teknikler, lösemilerde «özgün» kromozom anomalilerinin tanımlanmasını sağlamıştır. Böylece klinik sitogenetik, lösemilerde tanı koydurucu, prognozu tayin edici ve tedaviye yanıtı değerlendirici özellik kazanmıştır. Çalışmamızda 12 lösemi, 2 nöroblastoma, 1 akciğer kanseri tanısı alan ve 5 lösemi, 5 myelodisplastik sendrom şüphesi olan toplam 25 olguda kemik iliğinden sitogenetik analizler gerçekleştirilerek, klinik tanı ile korrelasyonları araştırılmıştır.
