Abstract

Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) is a highiy effective long-acting contraceptive approved in over 90 countries. It is safe, easy to use and inexpensive.
Im this study, with short-term treatment glands reflected the late proliferatif phase which characterized by tortuous glands and irregular subnuclear vacuolation, Glands became inactive and reduced in number during the long-term treatment. In both cases ovulation could hot be observed. DMPA acts by inhibitig ovulation and thinning of the endometrium.

Abstract

Depo şeklinde, uzun etkili bir preparat olan depo medroksiprogesteron asetat 90'a yakın ülkede oral kontraseptiflere alternatif bir yöntem olarak kullanılmaktadır. Kullanımı kolay, aynı zamanda etkisi çok yüksek olan bu ilaç Türkiye içinde önemlidir, Bu çalışmada kısa süreli, düşük doz ilaç uygulanan hayvanlarda endometriyum bezlerinde sayıca azalma yanında geç proliferasyonu gösteren kıvrılma ve az sayıda, düzensiz subnüklear vakuolizasyon bulunmuştur. Bu bulgular unovulatuvar sikluslara uymaktadır. Uzun süreli, yüksek doz ilaç verildiğinde ise bezler azalmış ve inaktifâir, Her iki kullanımda da ovulasyon gözlenmemiştir. İlaç hem ovulasyonu engelleyerek hem de endometriyumun yapısını bozarak etki göstermektedir,
