Abstract

Oksitosin'in iyi bilinen periferik etkilerine ek olarak öğrenme ve bellek olaylarında da bir role sahip olduğu görülmekte ve amnezik bir nöropeptid olduğu ileri sürülmektedir. Bu çalışmada oksitosin'in hir koşullu kaçış davranışının sönmesi üzerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Sönme deneylerinden bir saat önce oksitosin (25, 50, 100, 200 ug/kg) enjekte edilen hayvanlar kontrol grubu olarak serum fizyolojik uygulananlarla karşılaştırıldıklarında daha düşük cevaplar göstermişlerdir. Kontrol grubunda, RET; ve RET, test sonuçları karşılaştırıldığında cevapların anlamlı olarak yükseldiği gözlenirken oksitosin enjekte edilen gruplar sönmenin devam ettiğini göstermiştir. Bu gözlemler oksitosinin amnezik etkisini desteklemektedir,

Effect Of Oxytocın On Memory

Abstract

It appears that in addition to well known peripheral effects, oxytocin also has a role in learning and memory processes andit has been suggested that oxytocin might be an amnesic neuropeptide. In the present study we investigated the effect of oxytocin on the extinction of a conditioned avoidance behavior. Animals which were injected oxytocin (25, 50, 100, 200 pg/kg) 1 hr. before the extinction tests snowed lower responses when compared to saline administered animals as control groups. Extinction
tests were followed by RET; and RET, tests which were performed without injection. In the saline injected control froup, it was observed that the responses were significantly increased when the RET, and RET, test results were compared. On the other hand oxytocin injecied groups results showed the maintenance of extinction (i.e-disturbance of retrieval). All these observations supports the amnesic effect of oxytocin.
