İntrakaviter Thio-Tepa Kullanılmasının Yüzeysel Mesane Tümörlerine Etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, yüzeyel mesane tümörlerinde TUR (Transüretral reseksiyon) sonrası Thio-tepa, kullanılmasının tümörsüz devreyi uzatmadaki rolünü tartışmak üzere yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya dahil edilen 39 hastanin 29'una TUR sonrası Thio-tepa uygulanmış, 10 hastaya ise sadece TUR yapılmıştır. 24 aylık takip sonucu birinci grupta 7, ikinci grupta 2 rekürens görülmüştür. Birinci grupta tümörsüz devre 21.8 ay iken ikinci grupta bu oran 22.1 ay olarak bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlara göre thiotepa'nın tümörden serbest devre üzerinde bir etkisinin olmadığı gözlenmekte ise de, bu gruptaki nükslerin düşük evrede olması
dikkat çekicidir.

The effect of intravesical thio-tepa in the treatment of superficlal bladder tumors

Abstract

In this prospective, randomized study, the value of thio-tepa ireatment as an adjuvant to transurethral resection (TUR) on the bladder tumours were discussed. Thirty-nine patients with superficial
transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder were randomised into two groups. 29 patients were treated by TUR -£ intravesical thiotepa and the other 10 patients were given only TUR. At the end of 24-mounth, follow-up, 7 recurrences in the first group and 2 in the second group were encountered. Recurrence free periods were 21.8 and 21.1 months _respectively. Although, intracavitary thiotepa treatment as an adjuvant to TUR in superficial bladder tumours has not been found to be effective in controlling recurrences; the recurrences, being in lower
stages in this group, is the marked advantage of this therapy which should be taken into account.
