The ratio of end•systolic pressure to end•systolic volume : The relationship of this ratio with the length of the abnormally contracting segments in patients with coronary artery disease Eight normal and 28 patients with coronary artery disease presenting abnormal left ventricular contraction were studied. İt was found that systolic peak pressure to end-systolic volume (SPP/ESV) and end-systolic pressure to end-systolic volüme (ESP/ ESV) ratios and ejection fraction (EF) decreased significantly in patients with coronary artery disease when compared with the normals (PI < 0.001; P2 < 0.001; -Pg < 0.001) respectively. In the coronary artery patients the percent of abnormally contracting segments (ACS % ) was compared statistically with SPP/ESV and ESP/ESV ratios and EF. Results were statistically significant (PI < 0.001; P2 < 0.001; P3 < 0.001). In 19 ( % 68) patients showing EF less than 0.50, ACS % was above 20 % and in 3 (11 70) patients it was less than 20 020. In 21 (75 % ) patients when the SPP/ESV ratio was less than 3 and the ESP/ESV ratio was less than 2 the ASC % was above 20 To; and in 2 (7 % ) patients was below 20 %. This showed that SPP may be used instead of ESP. It is estimated that in patients with coronary artery disease SPP/ ESV and ESP/ESV ratios are helpful in the estimation of the ACS % and by the way the impairement of the left ventricular contractility.
