Postoperative Serum Copper Changes

Abstract

The serum copper concentration has been determined and obser-. ved postoperatively in 15 patients undergone major surgery. Preoperative serum copper concentrations were compared with 10 healty controls. Showing no statistical diference between groups. Amoung the patients who had undergone major surgery those- whose serum copper concentrations were within the normal limits preoperatively showed a significant increase in their serum copper concentration by the second postoperative day.
