Pregnancy and labor afler splenorenal shunt operation

Abstract

A case of pregnancy following spleno-renal shunt operation for the correction of portal hypentension has bccn presentcd.Observation of this casc and previously reported cases indicatc that a patient with compansated cirrhosis after a shunting procedure is able to havc a relatively normal pregnancy and labor. İn these cases, although vaginal delivery appears to be the method of choice, cesarean section may be preferred to minimize the stresg on the patients circulatory system.
