Abstract

Dr. graduated from the University Faculty of Medicine with first place. After specializing in thoracic surgery in England, Ersek established Thoracic Surgery Clinics in Heybeliada, Süreyyapaşa (Istanbul) and Uludağ (Bursa) sanatoriums between 1951 and 1961 (2). Founding the Istanbul Thoracic, Cardiovascular Surgery Center in 1962, Dr. Siyami Ersek served as the Surgery Director and Chief Physician at this institution for nearly twenty years. The mentioned center has gained a deserved reputation as one of the most advanced health institutions in our country in the treatment of lung and heart diseases.

Abstract

Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesini birincilikle bitiren Dr. Ersek, İngiltere'de göğüs cerrahisi ihtisası yaptıktan sonra, 1951 - 1961 yılları arasında Heybeliada, Süreyyapaşa (İstanbul) ve Uludağ (Bursa) sanatoryumlarında Göğüs Cerrahisi Kliniklerini kurdu (2). 1962 Yılında İstanbul Göğüs, Kalp ve Damar Cerrahisi Merkezi'ni kuran Dr. Siyami Ersek, yaklaşık yirmi yıl süreyle bu kurumda Cerrahi Direktörlük ve Başhekimlik yaptı. Adı geçen merkez, akciğer ve kalp hastalıklarının tedavisinde ülkemizin en ileri düzeydeki sağlık kurumlarından biri olarak haklı bir ün kazandı
