Abstract

Neural tube defects are the most common congenital anomalies. Organ system anomalies other than central nervous system aSSsOociated with neural tube defects are well known. Thymic changes have also been reported. This report presents the thymic findings of a prospectively series of 7 infants. Among these, 2 cases had normal thymus, 2 cases showed thymic enlargement, 2 cases showed small thymus, one case had double thymus. No previous case with neural tube defects showing small or double thymus or stippling in Hassall's corpuscles could be found in literature.

Nöral Tüp Defektlerinde Timus Bulguları

Year 1989, Volume: 42 Issue: 2, 139 - 144, 02.07.1989

Abstract

Nöral tüp defektleri, sık rastlanan konjenital anomalilerdendir. Nöral tüp defektlerinde, santral sinir sistemi anomalileriyle birlikte diğer organ anomalileri de bildirilmektedir. Timusa ait değişikliklerden de bahsedilmektedir. Bu yazıda, prospektif bir çalışmada Diyarbakır'da rastlanan 7 nöral tüp defektli bebeğin 2'sinde timus normal bulunduğu halde 2 vak'ada küçük timus, 2 vak'ada timus büyüklüğü, 1 vak'ada ise çift timus saptandı, Literatürde nöral tüp defekti vakalarında çift timus ile küçük timusa ve mikroskopik incelemede Haşssall cisimciklerinde görülen «stippling»e rastlanmamış olması nedeniyle vakalar ilginçtir.
