Abstract

Abstract

A 9-year-old case, who was examined with hemolytic anemia symptoms and diagnosed with Wilson's disease, is presented. The patient, who showed anemia, jaundice, splenomegaly, reticulocytosis, and erythroid hyperactivity in the bone marrow, was investigated for the cause of iron deficiency, and ultrasonography revealed cirrhotic changes in the liver and advanced dilatation in the portal vein.As a result of the examinations conducted considering Wilson's disease among the causes of cirrhosis in childhood, the diagnosis of Wilson's disease was confirmed. The patient, who was started on zinc treatment, could only be monitored for a short time. According to the family's statement, the patient died in a very short time due to sudden anemia and jaundice.
