Importance and Complications of Central Venous Catheterization

Abstract

In this article, 281 subclavian vein catheterisation çases were performed With various indications in the Department of General Surgery of Ankara Medical School have been reviewed retrospectively. The following complications out of 281 cases occured : in 9 cases sepsis (due to catheterisation), 8 pneumathorax, 3 arythmia, 2 hematoma on neck, 2 air embolisation, 2 subcutancous emphysema and 1 hemomediastenium retrospectively. One death related to catheter was air embolisation.
