Abstract

Frekansı insanın işitebildiği frekanslardan (yaklaşık 16 kHz) daha yüksek ses dalgalarına ültrases (ultrasound), bu dalgalarla ilgili inceleme ve uygulamalara ise ültrasonik (ultrasonics) adı verilmektedir. Ültrases tibba 35 yıl kadar önce girmis, tıbbın iyileştirme (fizik tedavi), cerrahi ve tanısal alanlarında kullanılmak üzere geliştirilen ültrasese dayalı birçok yöntem bugün tıbbın konvansiyonel yöntemleri arasına katılmıştır. Yeni yöntemler geliştirilmesi konusundaki çalışmalar da yoğun bir biçimde sürdürülmektedir. Bu derlemede, ilgili temel kavramlar verilerek, karmaşık tekniklerin girdiği tanısal uygulama alanları başta olmak üzere, ültrasesin tıptaki uygulamalarına temel olan ilkeler özetlenmiştir.

Abstract

Sound waves with frequencies higher than those that humans can hear (approximately 16 kHz) are called ultrasound, and the studies and applications related to these waves are called ultrasonics. Ultrasound entered medicine about 35 years ago, and many ultrasound-based methods developed for use in the fields of healing (physical therapy), surgery and diagnosis have now joined the conventional methods of medicine. Studies on the development of new methods are also intensively ongoing. In this review, the relevant basic concepts are given, and the principles underlying the applications of ultrasound in medicine are summarized, especially in the diagnostic application areas where complex techniques are included.
