Collected 203 Consecutive Cases
Two hundred tree instances of incisional hernia were studied between 1958 - 1972 at the Surgical Department of Medical School of Ankara University. Age. The average of the 203 patient reviewed was 39 years. The avarage age was 38 in females and 40 years in males, with a range 15 to 75 years (The' children were excluded) . The forth and fifth decade showed the highest incidense of incisional hernia, 12.80 per cent patient were under thirty years of age,and 11,32 per cent patiert were over sixty years of age whereas 75.88 per cent were between the age of thirty. and sixty (Table 1) .
Sex : At the time of repair, the sex incidence 154 (75,83 percent) were females and 49 (24.13 per cent) were in males. During the same period covering this study 16.198 abdominal operations were performed in our surgical divisions, 51.41 per cent were males and 48.58 per cent were females. The female sex is predisposed to this surgical complications.
Occupation : The individual's work was classified under the heading of light, moderate or heavy. In this manner there is no relationship between occupation and incisional hernia in the male group. In the female cases 99 per cent were house
