Şizofrenik Seyir Gösteren Bir Vak’anın Bioelektrisite Yönünden Takibi ve Gösterdiği Özellikler
Abstract
This study presents a psychiatric case displaying schizophrenic symptoms and catatonic tendencies. Electroencephalographic (EEG) findings showed high-voltage delta and theta activity mimicking epileptic patterns, yet did not respond to anticonvulsive treatment. Following electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), clinical symptoms improved in parallel with normalization of bioelectrical activity. The findings suggest a possible relationship between abnormal neuronal excitation-inhibition balance and psychotic symptoms.
