Abstract

In this paper are presented the results of 6090 proctosigmoidoscopic examinations performed on 5643 patients at the Dept. of Gastroenterology, Medical school of Ankara Üniversity. Indications for referal to proctosigmoidoscopy are listed in table |, and the endoscopic diagnoses are given in table LI. As will be seen in the tables, out of the 6090 proctosigmoidoscopies, 1901 cases, (0,4 p. c.) showed no pathology, and in 4189 examinations (40 96,6 of cases) seoveral pathologies were detected. Out of these, 1934 (34,2 p. c.) cases of hemorrhoids, 308 (5,4 p.c.) cases of single or multiple polyps and polyposis, 229 (4 p. c.) cases of idiopathic procto-sigmoiditis, 171 (3 p. c.) cases of cancer of the rectum, 4 cases of anal cancer, 148 :(2,6 p.c.) cases of pa- pillitis and hypertrophy of the papillae, 94 (1,7 p.c.) cases of ulcerative colitis, were diagnosed, Other anal pathologies were diagnosed iin 291 (4,97 p.c.) cases. The valvue of proctosigmoidoscopy in early detection of the cancer of the rectum was emphesized and a plea is made of wider use of this endoscopic technigue in hospitals and private practice throghout the country.

Abstract

1) Bu yazıda 1962 -1969 yılları arasında A. Ü. Tıp Fakültesi Gastroenteroloji Kliniğinde 5643 vak'aya yapılan 6090 proktosigmoidoskopik muayene sonuçları takdim edilmiştir. Bu 5643 vak'anın muayene endikasyonları Tablo I de, endoskopik tanılar da Tablo TI de takdim edilmiştir.
2) 5643 vak'ada yapılan 6090 proktosigmoidoskopi sonunda 1901 muayenede (%30,4) hiç bir patoloji tesbit edilmemiştir. Buna karşılık 4189 muayenede (%69,9) patolojik bulgu elde edilmiştir. Patoloji tesbit edilen muayeneler arasında 1934 (%34,2) vak'ada iç ve dış hemoroid; 308 (% 5,4) vak'ada polip; 229 (%4) proktitis ve proktosigmoiditis, 171 vak'ada (%3) rektum kanseri; 4 vak'ada (%0,07) anal kanser; 148 (%2,6) vak'ada papilla hipertrofisi ve/veya papillitis; 94 (%1,7) vak'ada colitis ulcerosa'ya rastlanmıştır. Diğer anal patoloji 291 (%97) vak'adatesbit edilmiştir.
3) Bu vesileyle proktosigmoidoskopinin, bilhassa erken rektum kanseri teşhisindeki önemine değinilmiş, bu metodun her hastanede ve hatta muayenehanede uygulanmasının kolaylığı ve lüzumu belirtilmiştir.
