Gastro-Duodenal Stress Ulcers in Surgery
Abstract
We observed a total of five gastric and duodenal stress ulcers that presented with bleeding between 1969 and 1997. We observed no significant difference in age. The emergence of gastric and duodenal stress ulcers is undoubtedly related to severe shock following various causes. Initial treatment of stress ulcers should be directed at complications. Our five cases were treated conservatively. One patient survived, and four died from stress ulcer complications.
