Abstract

One of Eckstein's initial topics of study in Turkey was Noma, a disease that is more common in this country compared to other regions. Noma is an infectious disease that primarily affects the mouth and face, particularly in developing countries. Eckstein, recognizing its higher prevalence in Turkey, conducted research and made significant contributions to this area. He also focused on medical-social issues in children, thyroid treatments, and the treatment of rickets. Additionally, during his time in Germany, he conducted in-depth studies on neurological conditions like encephalitis following smallpox vaccination.

Abstract

Eckstein'in çalışmalarının ilk döneminde, Türkiye'de ele aldığı konulardan biri Noma hastalığıdır.
