Between 1957 and 1961, Chlorambucil was administered to 1,000 patients with chronic lymphoid leukemia who were hospitalized at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine's Second Internal Medicine Clinic. Two of the cases were exceptional; the others were selected from patients who had not received any previous treatment. Both clinical and hematological improvements were observed in the patients after a short 3-5 week course of Chlorambucil administration. Chlorambucil is a safe and effective treatment for chronic lymphoid leukemia.
