Sex Chromatin Studies in the Urethra and Prostatica in Young People

Abstract

This study was conducted at the Urology Department of Ankara University Medical Faculty on 29 male children and young adults aged between 3 and 44, who underwent surgery involving the bladder and posterior urethra. The aim was to investigate the presence of sex chromatin (Barr body) in the prostatic urethra and utriculus prostaticus, both of which derive from the proximal portion of the Müllerian duct. Live mucosal tissue samples were obtained during surgery and stained using the Guard method for microscopic analysis. All specimens were found to be negative for sex chromatin. The results were compared with previous findings from studies on appendix testis and types of prostatic hyperplasia. The study concludes that no direct correlation exists between residual Müllerian structures and the presence of sex chromatin in males. The originality of the work is emphasized, as no comparable data were found in the existing literature.

Gençlerde Urethra Prostati̇kada Seks Kromati̇ni̇ Araştirmaları

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Üroloji Kliniği’nde mesane ve üretra posterior bölgesine yönelik çeşitli cerrahi işlemler uygulanan 3 ila 44 yaş arasındaki 29 erkek çocuk ve genç erkek üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın amacı, Müller kanalının proksimal kısmından gelişen utrikulus prostatikus ve urethra prostatikada seks kromatini (Barr cisimciği) varlığını saptamaktır. Alınan canlı mukozal dokular, Guard yöntemiyle boyanarak seks kromatini açısından mikroskobik olarak incelenmiştir. Tüm örneklerde seks kromatini negatif bulunmuştur. Bulgular, apendiks testis ve çeşitli prostat hiperplazisi tipleri üzerine yapılan önceki araştırmalarla karşılaştırılmış ve Müller kanalı artıkları ile seks kromatini varlığı arasında bir ilişki bulunmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Literatürde benzer bir çalışmaya rastlanmadığı belirtilmiş ve bu yönüyle araştırmanın orijinal niteliği vurgulanmıştır.
