Normal Doğumda Anne ve Bebeğin Glukoz ve İnsülin Dinamikleri

Abstract

This study investigates changes in maternal and neonatal glucose and insulin levels during normal delivery and the early postnatal period. In 38 healthy births, samples were taken at key time points—labor onset, time of birth, umbilical cord blood, and 30 minutes post-delivery from the newborn—to evaluate metabolic parameters with respect to labor duration and phase. Significant variations in glucose levels were observed across the labor phases, with a tendency toward hyperglycemia in prolonged labor. In contrast, insulin levels did not show significant changes. Regression analyses revealed that maternal glucose levels influenced neonatal glycemia. These findings highlight the impact of labor duration and maternal metabolic status on early neonatal glucose regulation.
