Heart Diseases in Society

Abstract

Our knowledge of the epidemiology of heart disease is not yet complete. To address these shortcomings, it is preferable to examine the entire population, even within a small area, rather than drawing conclusions from patients presenting to clinics or hospitals. One such study was conducted in the Sincanköy district, 20 km from Ankara, and only 95.5% of the 9,831 population were examined in the area. Of these, 9 were referred to the hospital with a diagnosis of probable heart disease. Consequently, the rate of heart disease diagnosed in this population was found to be 1.3%. Among these patients, 48.5% were diagnosed with rheumatic disease, 25.7% with hypertension, 95% with congenital heart disease, and 8.5% with ischemic heart disease. Our results were analyzed and compared with published findings, and the objectives of community surveys were outlined.

Toplumda Kalp Hastalıkları

Abstract

Kalb hastalıklarının epidemiyolojisi hakkındaki bilgilerimiz he- nüz tam değildir. Eksikliklerin giderilmesi için müayeneyane veya hastaneye gelen hastalardan sonuç çıkarmak yerine ufak hir bölge- de dahi olsa bir toplumun bütününü incelemek tercih edilmektedir. Böyle bir çalışma Ankara'ya 20 km. mesafede Sincanköy buca- gında yanılmış ve mevcut 9831 nufusun o 95,5'i bölgede muayene edilebilmiştir. Runlardan © 9'si muhtcmel kalb hastalığı tanısı olarak hastaneye gönderilmiştir. Neticede bu toplumda tesbit edilen kalb hastalıkları oranı 9 1,3 olarak bulunmuştur. Bu hastalarda © 48,5 romatizmal, 25,7 hipertansif, 95 15,2 konjenital ve 4 8,5 iskemik kalb hastalığı tanıları konmuştur. Bizim sonuçlarımızın tahlili ve neşriyattaki sonuçlarla karşılaştırılması yapılmış ve toplum araş- tırmalarının amaçlarının neler olması gerektiği belirtilmiştir.
