Results Obtained from Cyproterone Acetate Treatment in Different Types of Hirsutism

Abstract

This study evaluates the effects of Cyproterone Acetate (combined with ethinyl estradiol) in 32 female patients diagnosed with hirsutism. Treatment lasted between 3–24 months, resulting in complete remission in half of the patients. The androgenic sensitivity index was used to quantify hirsutism, and significant reduction in LH levels was observed. Reported side effects included headache, depression, and nausea, but no serious complications occurred. Due to relapse risk after cessation, continuation with maintenance doses and electro-epilation is recommended.

Değişik Hirsutismus Türlerinde Cyproterone Acetate Tedavisi ile Elde Ettiğimiz Sonuçlar

Abstract

Bu çalışma, hirsutismus tanısı almış 32 kadın hastada antiandrojen ajan Cyproterone Acetate (ethinyl estradiol ile kombine) tedavisinin etkilerini değerlendirmektedir. Tedavi süresi 3–24 ay arasında değişmiş ve hastaların yarısında tam remisyon sağlanmıştır. Hirsutismusun objektif ölçümünde androjenik hassasiyet emsali kullanılmış; LH seviyelerinde belirgin düşüş gözlenmiştir. Yan etkiler arasında baş ağrısı, depresyon ve mide bulantısı yer almış ancak ciddi bir komplikasyon görülmemiştir. Tedavinin kesilmesiyle nüks riski bulunduğu için idame dozlarla devam edilmesi ve elektroepilasyon önerilmiştir.
